oh yeah, shoulda made mention of this in my previous post… i’m glad to hear that chuck shotton – the creator of the original machttp – is back at it!
chuck had sold a license of it to starnine who turned it into webstar. then 4d bought startnine. i guess chuck still retained the rights, so now he’s decided to start working on it again, along with the ‘net community – yup, he’s open sourced it!
machttp is now at version 2.5 with a beta of the next release just posted.
very cool! but one odd note is that machttp.org is running apache!
i gotta spend some time revamping my stylesheet… the anchor color or something is freakin’ out ie6. and sometimes only the part of the blog down to “powered by movable type” shows up and you have to reload.
i thought maybe it’d be cool to have a full soap interface into mt. i’m checking to see if there’s something in development, but would be cool to implement anyway. now that mt’s using mysql, i can interact with the db itself. hmmm… can i find the time?
i got image magick and perl magick (Image::Magick) installed so i can do thumbnails now! (as you can tell from my previous post.)
i should go to bed now…
check out this excerpt from microsoft’s eula just for installing security patches:
“You may not disclose the results of any benchmark test of the .NET Framework component of the OS Components to any third party without Microsoft’s prior written approval.”

i managed to munge my site-style.css file last night while trying to modify the blog fonts… and then when i mv’d my backup file back in place, i munged that too! oh well, looks better now – at least on windows. linux still needs some work on its fonts.
although i’m no css guru, i have been trying to move away from the font tags and such. but i do wish i could do global variables for fonts and stuff – i think maybe i heard full css 2.0 does that. i mean if i want to change my font family, it’s usually for a set or range of display elements on a page, so i can change it in one place and there you’d have it. guess i should investigate…
well, i guess it had to happen soon enough… i had to password protect shwango radio due to licensing fees. it wasn’t really the pain in the ass sesac guy, but today i got a letter from bmi to sign up for an internet license. each wants $260 per year – any i don’t have extra cash for that! i’m sure ascap would have been right around the corner. (i wonder if the sesac guy told bmi about me…) anyway… it was fun while it lasted!
wild tangent has some cool new online 3d technologies coming out. didn’t work great on my non-3d laptop, but was still cool. supposedly they have a lot of hackers downloading the developer kit to make games. might be cool…
it’s amazing to me that the nimda attacks are still so widespread. our logs at work and even my home box (via adsl) constantly show hack attempts with nimda’s signature.
man, am i out of it! mt 2.2 has been out for almost a month now! i’ll have to install that baby soon!
…
some of the new features look cool… trackback, etc. looks like fun! and mysql support is a very welcome addition.
