Ok, so what do you think of the new design?
These are some of my favorite images I have and wanted to use them, but I’m not sure if the fit with the “shwango” name. I have another domain that I might move my blog to – fits my intentions better than “shwango” – I’ll keep you posted!
I’m trying all CSS – no tables. It’s still a work in progress, but wanted to get something up to show I have been doing something!
The comments CSS isn’t done yet (or even started) and haven’t got a new archives or links page yet.
I’m still getting a grip on all the CSS stuff. What’s the consensus on positioning? Relative versus absolute, etc. I’m only testing in IE 6+ and Firebird 0.7+ anymore normally – and the site prints nice for now until I can do a print media CSS.
Oh, and I’m still valid XHTML 1.0 transitional and valid CSS! That just gives me the warm fuzzies! But, I have to watch my posts… I need to find some MT plugins to fix problem URLs and other tags – like from Slashdot and Amazon.
Those spammers have really sunk to new lows now! They’re now posting spams to my blog! So I’ve had to resort to deleting comments from my blog.
Ok, I’ve decided to switch to using proper caps again. Got tired of all lower case. Hope you don’t mind.
Just testing posting from Zempt – a MT posting tool I found after I got my MT VB code working!
I’ll post more on my API findings in the morning… Too tired now.
I hope this one works too.
not sure if anyone noticed, but i’ve updated my syndication feeds – and put up the cool little images everyone’s using! i’ve got the old rss 1.0 and now rss 2.0, as well as comments which i’m still playing around with. i hacked up the comments template myself (well based on the rss 2.0 template i found) since i’ve been trying to get more into mt coding – and i’m sure i’ll continue tweaking it.
also, i came across the notion of “styling the rss feeds“. i guess it’s a cool idea, so that if you click the rss feed link you get “pretty” look, but i still like my raw xml.
i’m still slowly working in little css/design changes, but the “new look” is still in the works.
well, i finally got around to upgrading from mt 2.62 to 2.64.
also, i installed mtamazon to do cool stuff – like displaying what i’m reading and my wishlist. check my side bar for my wishlist. to properly use mtamazon and maybe make some pocket change, i signed up for a associate id and a dev token. web services – gotta love ‘em!
the only problem i had with installing mtamazon was that it required xml::simple which required xml::parser. my perl was a little out of date, so i did a perl -MCPAN -e shell and install Bundle::CPAN, which took a while. then i was ready to do a install XML::Parser – which gave errors so i finally had to do a force install XML::Parser. the errors were with t/astress.t, but everything works though, so i’m happy.
sorry readers for my silence lately. it’s inexcusable, but, oh well…
there aren’t too many print mags i get around to reading, especially the trades. but the one i still enjoy is infoworld. mainly due to jon udell and his blog. he writes the “strategic developer” column and focuses a lot on xml, blogs and such. chad dickerson’s stuff is good too. oh, and it’s free…
i do assume that just reading the blogs online might take over my reading the mag, but you need something for on the pot!
ok, per aaron’s request (see comments), i’ve config’d mt to post my updates to weblogs.com and blo.gs. guess that might increase my readership – but is that something i want? we’ll see! happy aaron? guess i’ll need to figure out all this ping and trackback stuff too… delving deeper into “bloglife”…
