MyDoom? Novarg?

Well, MyDoom (aka Novarg) is suppose to be the fastest spreading virus yet, but I haven’t received any of these emails. I guess my friends, family, coworkers and mailing list readers are loosing their click happiness of attachments.

I’m still being harassed by the “MS Security Update” virus that I posted about. It’s probably the W32.Swen.A@mm virus, since this looks like the same stuff I’m getting. But W32.Gibe@mm sounds possible too. And I’ve gotten alerts about W32.Mimail.A@mm when scanning suspicious emails. I wish people would clean up their machines!

Blisters on the thumbs…

Maybe it was a bad thing, but Jen and I bought ourselves an Xbox for Christmas. So far it’s seen more action in a month than my old N64 saw since I got it! (I would still like to solve Zelda64 and Mario64 was fun, but I lost it when I moved into the house.)

We’ve amassed quite a collection of games already thanks to gifts and such…

It came with Tetris Worlds and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The online only version of MechAssault is also included, but I haven’t hooked up to the Xbox network - “Xbox Live” - yet. Not bad for coming with the system.

Jen and I fought about which game we should get when we bought it, but settled on the GTA Double Pack which includes GTA III and GTA Vice City. A good choice since Jen loves running people over. I don’t think I need to elaborate on these games since they’ve been out for a while and even in the news. Both games are great fun, although I haven’t got too far yet.

I gave Jen Deus Ex: Invisible War as a Christmas gift, which was what she wanted to get as the first game. It’s pretty cool. It’s got a decent plot and really makes it feel like a movie. There’s a lot of choices you can make and there’s not really a “right” way to win the game - so many games have a fixed path that looses some of the enjoyment. Again, I haven’t got too far yet, but it’s been quite fun so far.

My brother got me Halo for Christmas. I’ve started playing the actual game, but really the “death match” battles are where it’s at!

Jen’s birthday was the 15th (Jen, sorry I forgot to post something!) and Jen’s mom gave her Project Gotham Racing and The Simpsons Road Rage. We haven’t had a chance to play them too much, but Road Rage is pretty cool, and Project Gotham leaves the old Pole Position in the dust!

Speaking of Pole Position, I picked up Namco Museum to relive those old memories of the arcade… Pole Position, Pac-Man, Dig Dug… I’m thinking about picking up Midway Arcade Treasures which has Defender, Joust, Paperboy, Rampage and many others. Ah… retro bliss!

But the best game we’ve got so far has to be Wallace & Gromit in Project Zoo. It’s a terrific game staring Gromit as the character you control and Wallace is there to help out. Bam! Entertainment’s site has some good details - they did a great job. We had an “Xbox night” on Friday and played for four hours. I’m at the end of level 2 - the mines. It’s quite challenging and entertaining.

I think that’s all we’ve got so far, but there are many on my list… The Simpsons Hit & Run, Halo 2 when it comes out, Alias, Frogger Beyond… and Jen wants The Sims… I keep telling myself that these games build creativity and are not just a waste of time!
