A reality check for the Christmas holidays…

December 8th, 2003 osterday Comments off

I’m not a fan of my many of my sister’s “funny” emails (most of which are just “forwards”), but on occasion there is a good one. I thought this was fitting enough to post…

A reality check for the Christmas holidays…

…a story on the radio of a woman who was out Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable. And after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.

She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year. The overwhelming pressure to go to every party and every housewarming. To taste all the holiday food and treats, getting that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, making sure we don’t forget anyone on our card list and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card.

Finally the elevator doors opened and there was a crowd in the car. She pushed her way into the car and dragged her two kids in with her and all the bags of stuff. When the doors closed she couldn’t take it anymore and stated, “Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up and shot.”

From the back of the car everyone heard a quiet calm voice respond, “Don’t worry we already crucified him.” For the rest of the trip down the elevator, it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

Don’t forget this year to keep the One who started this whole Christmas thing in your every thought, deed, purchase, and word. If we all did it, just think of how different this whole world would be.

IMG and DIV

December 5th, 2003 osterday 3 comments

I guess I’m still doing something wrong. My new design looks great in IE, but my “currently reading” section and “quote” divs seem to be screwed up in Firebird. I’ve tried a bunch of different things, but no luck yet. I thought “float” my be the problem, but my “quote” div doesn’t have float! Strange.

Be sure to get your MS patches via email!

December 5th, 2003 osterday Comments off

Ok, obviously I’m kidding! But I guess that’s what the virus creators expect, and by the volume of spams with the virus in them, I guess people are clicking the attachment!

I’ve be getting a ton of the following emails to one of my accounts recently – originally I got it a few times back at the beginning of November. Pretty tricky actually, but would MS really email out patches? First give away – the first letter of the email body is not capitalized!

This time around I’m not just getting these emails, but also “returned” emails with the virus in them. I’ve also seen some ISP strip out the virus from the emails – that’s interesting.

Like MS would really do this… (I know what some of you are thinking!)
