mt 2.64 and mtamazon

well, i finally got around to upgrading from mt 2.62 to 2.64.

also, i installed mtamazon to do cool stuff - like displaying what i’m reading and my wishlist. check my side bar for my wishlist. to properly use mtamazon and maybe make some pocket change, i signed up for a associate id and a dev token. web services - gotta love ‘em!

the only problem i had with installing mtamazon was that it required xml::simple which required xml::parser. my perl was a little out of date, so i did a perl -MCPAN -e shell and install Bundle::CPAN, which took a while. then i was ready to do a install XML::Parser - which gave errors so i finally had to do a force install XML::Parser. the errors were with t/astress.t, but everything works though, so i’m happy.

too busy?

hmmm… just tried to update my xp box and look what microsoft served up… (good thing i’m behind a firewall. sounds like this latest worm - via windows rpc hole - is reaking havoc!)

plug, plug, plug…

can i plug emusic one more time? this service just kicks ass! if you like to check out new music, this is a great (and cheap) resource. great selection of stuff from all genres. i’m really digging the down tempo and other electronic stuff. but also the jazz, blues and classical stuff is cool. and i’ve also been checking out some classical: medieval/renaissance stuff as well.

newest cool albums i’ve downloaded:

the dining rooms - tre
ladytron - 604
the future sound of london - papua new guinea translations
magnificat - emilio de’cavalieri: la rappresentatione di anima e di corpo
and tons more!

jabber revisited…

i’ve recently revived my interest in jabber. i went ahead and installed the latest stable version and got ssl and the conferencing module working with it. it’s nice for a free, secure, extendable, xml-based chat server, especially with guys working in different parts of town.

i’m using the exodus client mostly.

there are quite a number of interesting projects out there for jabber.

hey, i still read print mags!

sorry readers for my silence lately. it’s inexcusable, but, oh well…

there aren’t too many print mags i get around to reading, especially the trades. but the one i still enjoy is infoworld. mainly due to jon udell and his blog. he writes the “strategic developer” column and focuses a lot on xml, blogs and such. chad dickerson’s stuff is good too. oh, and it’s free…

i do assume that just reading the blogs online might take over my reading the mag, but you need something for on the pot!
