if you visited my blog before, you know i had to shut down shwango radio due to licensing issues. well i just stumbled across this newsgroup posting while playing at google. it’s sad to see so many internet radio stations shut down, but it was cool to see that someone put shwango radio on the list!
The update to mt version 2.62 went fine – except that i forgot to run mt-upgrade25.cgi first, but after running that and rerunning mt-upgrade26.cgi, everything was fine. (note to self: read the instructions next time!)
of course now there’s a 2.63 patch…
bit torrent is a beautiful system. i had a similar idea while playing around with dc++ and shasta.
the idea is simple… many times multiple users have a file that i might need, so instead of connecting to a single peer that may go offline, slow down, etc., i connect to many peers and download bytes of the file. anyway, here’s the gory details – aka “protocol spec”.
note: movie industry – wake up! the geeks are way past you guys! i’ll leave it at that… {wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more}
note 2: i think i should switch to road runner (cable modem). i’ve tried to stay loyal to zoomtown (adsl), which has served me quite well, but i need more bandwidth!
if you like 80s alternative dance – depeche mode, new order, etc. – you might want to stop down at plush on thursday nights. a buddy of mine and myself are dj-ing. doors open at ten. fully stocked bar. we haven’t had too much of a crowd yet these first few weeks – the weather hasn’t been too great – but we’re hoping things pick up. oh yeah… plush is located above carol’s on main (9th and main) downtown (cincinnati). $2 cover.
not sure what to say. i’ve been glued to the tv all day. feelings from challenger coming back… anyway… just wanted to post something…
