there’s just too much stuff out there! “stuff” is referring web technologies, languages, databases, etc. between html (and xhtml and wml), perl, php, asp, .net (asp, vb and c#), java, javascript, css, coldfusion, mysql, mssql (and sqlxml), oracle, xml (and webservices and all the xml tech), xp, linux, bigip, netapp, ios, apache, iis, and even bash …ouch my head hurts! what to focus on? it’s cool that i know a lot of tech, but what am i a “master” of?
i’ve been checking out some of the other blogs build using movable type and came across hopelessromantics. not sure about the content – although i do concider myself a hopeless romantic – but i dig some of the design. i really need to learn more css.
overlib is way cool. it allows little popup messages over links. supposedly it works in netscape 4.x as well, but i haven’t tested it. i’ll have to put it to use sometime.
well, since i’m such a nice guy, i set up a site for my sister and her fiance, jamie – the wedding’s in 14 days!
ok, we all love google. it’s the best search engine, simple interface, no bull-shit and runs on linux. now the guys have opened up the google api’s via a SOAP webservice! .net and java examples are included in the programming kit. there are some restrictions, but it’s still super cool! kudos google!
looks like my server’s time is about 15 minutes fast. guess i need to install ntp. it’s actually only 9:33am!
well, even after a hard day’s work and a couple beers, i still had trouble sleeping last night… too much stuff floating in the ether close to my brain. my buddy aaron stopped by for a grill out. well, he mentioned some of the things i could do with my blog that i hadn’t thought of. he showed me some sites using movable type for more than blogging, but real content management. even things as simple as using the category for content for different areas and such. anyway, i’m rambling ’cause i’m tired and have to get some work done.
man, what a slacker i am! not a single post here since monday! oh well… not much to say today – except that i’m diggin’ the better weather we’re having!
one more post before i logoff for the night… ok, i can be a bit of a couch potato when i want to and have been know to watch a bit of tv, although not nearly as much as when i did growing up. i haven’t got into many of the “reality tv” shows. (well i was addicted to the real world for the first few seasons.) but mtv’s latest creation – the osbournes – is hilarious!
i can see why people can get caught up in “blog life”. i try not to, but there’s so much interesting stuff – well mostly. i’ve been checking out other sites created with movable type and there’s some cool stuff going on. tonight i’m too tired to try to do anything more…
